Owner Code

The owner code of the owner of the llama being registered. The owner code is a 4 or 5 alphanumeric code that has been used to identify lama owners. If you have animals registered with the ILR or ARI you already have an owner code. It can be found on any lama Registration Certificate, Listing document, or invoice. If you do not have an owner code leave the box blank and one will be provided for you.

Last Name

The last name of the owner of the lama being registered. The last name is limited to 24 characters. For example, ‘WILSON. If this is a corporation the ILR still requires a contact person to be entered here. This is not the agent of the corporation, but an owner.

First Name, Middle Initial

This is the first name of the owner of the lama being registered. If you wish to register the lama under yourself and a spouse, enter both of your first names. For example BOB A. and MARY C. In the actual database each individual will be entered individually. The owners name on the certificate will print as 'BOB A. AND/OR MARY C. WILSON'. The first names will be entered in the order you give them. Only the initial first name will be used for mailing labels.

Farm Ranch

If there is a farm or ranch name please enter that here. This box is also used for corporations which use only a corporate name on Certificates and other documents. Remember that all corporations must also provide a partner or owner as contact person in the Last Name and First Name entries above.

The ILR is not in the practice of releasing telephone numbers except on a one at a time basis for qualified ILR members. ILR addresses are provided only to sister associations and not to commercial enterprises.

If you have an email address we can use this to contact you quickly and economically.

Second Owner Information

If this lama is jointly owned and is being registered with another individual who is not of your immediate family, this is the place to enter the information on that individual. Joint owners, of which there are 2 or more, each have their own owner code and are identified individually on the Certificates and Listing documents. The ILR does not have a means to indicate the percent of ownership. If you own 75% of the lama and your partner owns 25% both of you will be indicated on the Certificate equally. Also, the order in which names appear on a Certificate or document is merely first come first print, and is not able to be changed. The older of the accounts on the ILR database will be printed first.

Reserved #

If you have contacted the ILR or ARI and reserved lama registration numbers you can enter one of those that have not yet been used in this space. If you are blood typing this lama it is recommended that you call the ILR and reserve a number which you can use on the registration form and send to UC Davis with the blood type sample. This will provide a positive link between your registration and the blood type data that UC Davis will forward directly to the ILR. If you do not have a reserved number leave this box blank.

Name Choices

It is strongly recommended that you provide 3 choices for your lama. If all of your choices do not qualify the ILR will select a name for you. If this is the case and you are unhappy with the name selected you have 30 days in which to return the certificate with another name selection. If the Certificate is received within 30 days the change and re-issue of a certificate will be no charge. The ILR also recommends that you review your name selections through the Name Search page at this web site to see if your name has already been registered. Remember that even though the name may appear to qualify, final approval is reserved for the ILR office when your Registration request is processed.

Includes Breeder Identifier

If the name you have selected includes a reserved Breeder Identifier, or refers to your ranch or farm, please indicate that here. Remember that only the breeders may be mentioned here. The breeder is defined as the owner of the dam at the time of conception. If you are not the breeder, and yet still would like to use the breeder's identifier in the lama's name, you must provide written permission by the breeder.
